Echo Home¶
Reflections of home
Home as you left it, without a single monster, and someone near the Box who wears your face.

echo-home-arrivalWhat happens when you arrive¶
You step out onto hills you know. Same rivers, same villages, and your own builds, right where you left them. For a moment it feels like the Serum simply brought you home. Then you notice the quiet: not one monster, anywhere, even after dark. And a little way off from the Box, someone is standing where you would stand, watching you. It wears your face.
The rule: home, without the monsters¶
| What changes | What it means for you |
|---|---|
| It's a copy of your world | Same seed, same terrain, same villages, block for block. Everything players have built at home is brought over as you approach it, and changes you make at home later turn up here too. |
| Copies are of blocks only | Chests, signs and other containers arrive empty. Your vault is not a second vault. |
| No monsters, ever | No zombies, skeletons, creepers or phantoms. Animals, villagers and the day-night cycle are as normal. |
| Your Echo | One thing here does not belong. See below. |
Your Echo¶
Every player who arrives finds their own Echo waiting near the arrival Box, 8 to 14 blocks away. It wears your skin and your name, wanders within about 10 blocks of the Box, and ignores everyone else.
| What it does | Details |
|---|---|
| It watches | While you stand within 16 blocks of the Box, it counts. After 30 seconds in total (across any number of visits), it stops pretending: "Your Echo has stopped pretending to be you." |
| It hunts you, and only you | From then on it comes for its owner and nobody else, for as long as it lives. Hitting it starts the hunt at once. |
| It fights like a player | 20 health (ten hearts), a weak punch (3 damage), and no fear of daylight. |
| It never despawns | If it survives, it is waiting for you next visit. If you kill it, a new one is there next time. |

Echo Key. Nobody has found the door it fits.
Dealing with your Echo
Either walk away from the Box quickly and leave it be (it only counts while you are near the Box), or arm up and settle it on your own terms. It's no tougher than a player in no armour.
Why come here¶
Echo Home is the safest world behind any door. It's a great place to:
- Gather wood, stone, crops and ores in familiar land, with no monsters at night.
- Explore your own world's caves without a single creeper.
- Visit the villages near your home: the villagers are all here.
Serum and getting home¶
- The arrival Box's cache holds 2 Serum Ampoules.
- There is no native Serum ingredient here.
Tips¶
- Don't hang around the Box. Those 30 seconds add up over every visit.
- Bring a sword the first time, just in case the Echo turns.
- Don't expect your stored items: every chest in the copy is empty.
- In multiplayer, each of you meets only your own Echo. Someone else's Echo won't touch you.
Birds¶
Birds you can photograph for your bird log here. Open one to turn it round, watch it move and hear its call.
- Copycat Robin: common
- The Echo's Crow: rare, dangerous
The traveler's tape¶
Every arrival Box has a chest by its door holding a cassette: the last traveler reading their journal of this world aloud. This is what they say. It gives a lot away.
Read the journal (spoilers)
I stepped out of the weathered Box onto hills I have walked all my life, and for an hour I believed the Serum had simply brought me home. Then I noticed the quiet: no groaning after dark, no hiss at my back, not one monster anywhere in this copy of the world. There is only one other thing here, and it wears my face; it stood a little way off from the Box and watched me the way I would watch a stranger. Do not linger by the Box while it watches: it bore my company for half a minute before it came for me, and it only ever comes for the one it copies. I put it down in the end, and it left a key behind that fits no door I found here, so I kept it.
